Reiki can help by bringing balance where balance is needed. Through light touch and biodynamic feedback, the whole you (body/mind/spirit) is gently encouraged to enter a state of deep supported rest; the effects ripple throughout your whole system.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sessions s are 1 hour. We begin with a short verbal check-in. What has brought you to reiki, what do you hope to shift? Maybe you can articulate something tangible and specific…or maybe you can’t. Sometimes all we know is that we need something…relief, space, support. Reiki is here to help you either way.

    For in-person sessions you will receive reiki (light touch & hands hovering) fully clothed on a massage table. For virtual sessions you will choose a quiet comfortable spot at home, in bed on a couch, the floor. In either modality, this portion of your session lasts approximately 40 minutes

    We close with 5-10 minutes of quiet sitting to process and integrate before you move on with your day. This can be in silence (suggested) or an opportunity for questions and dialogue.

    You can expect and email from me the day after to check in and see if you have any questions.

    We begin with a brief check-in about needs and to intention(s). You can reveal as much or as a little about yourself as you are comfortable, reiki is not talk therapy, and overall we will keep our speaking to a minimum.

    During in-person sessions, recipients are fully clothed and lie on a massage table with fresh linens and blankets. I combine very light touch with the hovering of hands for biodynamic feedback. I work from the established Usui and Earth Evolution reiki hand positions to support your uniquely presenting needs.

    If you choose, we will begin with a short grounding guided meditation (recommended for those new to reiki & mindfulness practices). You may also choose to remain in complete restorative silence before, during and after your session.

    During a session, many people slip into a pleasing liminal state, or even fall asleep. Some of us may feel a range of emotions bubble up, such as laughter and/or tears. It is not always easy to receive in life, and it can take some of us several sessions before we are fully comfortable allowing ourselves to relax and restore. Every session is different. Every session has benefits.

  • Reiki will meet you where you are and you need not DO anything to prepare… for your comfort, here are a few suggestions, if possible:

    • wear loose comfortable clothes

    • eat lightly & hydrate beforehand

    • clear space in your schedule for quiet time directly after a session, even a 15 minute walk before heading back to work/life/family will make a difference

  • An initial 3 session approach is always recommended - ideally weekly or bi-weekly - which allows you to fully open to receiving and gives you time to integrate the benefits.

    Whenever possible, acute needs should be met with sessions booked close together (ideally within the same week or two).

    For chronic issues and to support general wellbeing monthly maintance session are recommended.

    Listen to your body and intuition, most of us know when something is really resonating with us and we want more!

  • Reiki is a lineage of working with the energetic body that was codified over 100 years ago in Japan. It is taught with reverence, passing the same essential knowledge and energetic attunements experientially from teacher to student. The word reiki is translated from Japanese to mean universal life energy or flow.

  • Direct touch is not necessary to receive the benefit of reiki energy. Virtual sessions combine the structure of a short guided meditation with distance energy work; you can receive the benefit of reiki practice no matter where you are located.

  • Reiki supports the whole you no matter your religious beliefs or world views.
